Reed Whistle

Reed Whistle and his critter friends!

Personality: A happy-go-lucky and easy going tween pony that has a strong connection to all kinds of animals, specially through music. He places LOTS of importance on family and filial love, and is currently "raising" Kaval, Fipple and Apito as his little brothers.

Description: Reed Whistle helps his granpa at his Music shop, testing the instruments and attending clients. He also works part time for Fluttershy, teaching young birds, frogs, and anyone who wants to learn how to sign(He still can't get them to sing in unison tho)

Backstory: Reed Whistle has been a little unlucky in relative terms. his grandpa, Reed flute (after who he is named) owns a music shop and school in Ponyville, and is quite talented himself. He meet and fell in love with Wind Whistler, a pegasus that had a beautiful singing voice. They married and their offspring was a pegasus, who they named Thistle Whistle. She fell for another pegasus, named Grass Hopper, and together they produced three little kids. Grass Whistle, Reed whistle and Grass Skipper. While their first and third child were born pegasi, the second one was born a Earth pony. Their first reaction was to move the family to Ponyville, but ultimately, a talk with Reed Flute made them realize it would be unfair to their other two children, and he would gladly take care of little Reed in Ponyville.
They still visit him as often as they can, but Reed Whistle had grown a little resented towards other pegasus, and despite his grandpa best efforts, developed some abandonment issues.
He also had issues interacting with other ponies, so his grandpa got him a job as a caretaker of creatures in need, where he meet Fluttershy(and developed a crush on her).
One of the creatures he was in charge of was a little skunk, who he named "Fipple"who he developed a strong bond with. One day, Fipple disappeared, and all the clues pointed to the Everfree Forest. Without thinking straight, Reed Whisper entered the forest to try to rescue his friend. He eventually found Fipple, but they got lost in the forest. Roaming around, they found a cave, and, inside, a very pretty jewel, that they almost took, but a... monkey-dog thing snatched it before they could. They pursued it and the three of them realized that the owner of the jewel was pursuing them. The giant Lion pursued the three little things until cornering them. Although Reed Whistle tried to return the jewel, the lion was still furious, and attacked them. Just as everything seemed lost, Grandpa Reed appeared and fought with the lion, until defeating it. They were going to leave it with the jewel, but it started to move, and a little serpent with wings hatched from it, with Reed Whistle being the first thing he saw. They decided to adopt the little thing, and the monkey-dog too, as he had become attached to them. The serpent was named Kaval, while the monkey-dog was named Apito.
Reed Whistle took care of them, and all his issues started to fade, and, without realizing it, one day, Fluttershy complimented him on his butt mark.

Physical prowess: He's a scrawny little boy. relatively short and weak.

Fipple the Skunk. Named after a constricted mouthpiece common to many end-blown woodwind instruments.
He was shy and very timid when he first meet Reed Whistle, even refusing to play or interact at all with other animals. Reed whistle grew fond of him, and eventually gained his trust, playing quiet games, or simply watching clouds. He is still a timid animal, and it really doesn't help that most Ponies flee at his sight, thinking that he automatically smells bad. Twilight Sparkle acts rather uneasy around him.
One of his favorite activities is flying around with Kaval.

Apito the Ahuizotl. Named after the apito, the whistle used in samba music and other Brazilian music styles.
Up until meeting Reed whistle and Fipple, he led a hard life. All ponies and most animals find him creepy looking, and would rather throw things at it that have to deal with it out of fear. He had to resort to scavenge and steal stuff to survive, specially in a place like the Everfree Forest. Although he can walk on his hind legs, he's currently idolizing Reed Whistle and his grandpa(They're the first ponies that ever defended him) and tries to emulate them as much as possible.

Kaval the Feathered Serpent. Named after the kaval, a chromatic end-blown flute.
A baby, he got the impression that Reed Whistle was his mom, and as such, he loves him a great deal, and the feeling is reciprocated, even if he gets in Reed's nerves sometimes. Unlike the other two, Kaval can talk, but right now his vocabulary is rather limited.
